According to reports from England, United chief Ed Woodward has given the club the go-ahead to splash about £125 million (R2.3 billion) on two Bundesliga stars.
The Daily Mirror has reported that the Red Devils could make an approach for veteran Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller, who was part of Germany's 2014 World Cup triumph, and Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid Kai Havertz.
Muller is reportedly unsettled at Bayern Munich, having seemingly fallen out of favour in recent times, and has emerged as a target for United after the club failed to sign Mario Mandzukic from Juventus in the previous window.
Conversely, 20-year-old Havertz has become one of the Bundesliga's star players in the past two seasons, and is widely regarded as one of the best young players in world football.
Leverkusen have reportedly slapped an £85 million (R1.6 billion) price tag on the 2019 Golden Boy nominee, with Muller seemingly being valued at about £40 million (R747 million).
