Reigning European champions Liverpool have reportedly reached a pre-agreement for one of the world's most sought-after strikers, who had previously been linked with a move to LaLiga giants FC Barcelona.
On Tuesday evening, reports emerged from Spanish publication El Desmarque that Jurgen Klopp's side had reached a "pre-agreement" with RB Leipzig's star striker Timo Werner.
In terms of the reported agreement, Liverpool will activate the Germany international's £51 million (R962 million) release clause at the end of the season ahead of the 2020 UEFA European Championship.
Werner, who has scored 20 goals in 18 Bundesliga appearances so far this season, will reportedly be Klopp's marquee signing for the upcoming campaign, with reports suggesting further that he will have £170 million (R3.2 billion) to spend in the market.
The 23-year-old was previously linked with a host of clubs, including the likes of Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Barcelona, but appears set for Merseyside if reports are to be believed.
