According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils have a chance to open talks with Germany international Jerome Boateng, who has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain in recent weeks.
The defender's negotiations with PSG have apparently stalled, which has potentially opened the door for a return to the Premier League.
Boateng, a former Manchester City player who is said to be open to leaving Bayern, did not have the best 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign in Russia, and with age against him, United are not convinced that the 29-year-old is worth the Bavarians' asking price of £50 million (R877 million).
It has been suggested that the English giants are already in discussions with FC Barcelona over the possibility of signing Colombian Yerry Mina, but talks between the two parties are not progressing quickly enough for the English side's liking.
Jose Mourinho has also tried to sign Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City's Harry Maguire in the past couple of weeks, but neither club were willing to sell their stars in this window.

Boateng has made 258 appearances for Bayern since joining the club in 2011, and, as a central defender, has scored eight goals and assisted a further 20 strikes in that time.
