Kahn, Muller & Ballack Snubbed For All-Time Bundesliga XI

With the German top flight having gone from strength to strength in recent years, and attracted and developed some of the greatest players ever seen, here is an all-time Bundesliga XI – and legends such as Oliver Kahn, Michael Ballack and Thomas Muller were snubbed for it.

English publication the Daily Mail recently selected an XI of players who had a significant impact on Germany's top division, and it is no surprise to see Bayern Munich stars, past and present, dominate the team.

Not seeing former Germany international Oliver Khan in goals will come as a shock for some, but there is some logic to the decision. Although the legend has won the most league titles (eight) as a No. 1, Manuel Neuer is only three behind him and is likely to win more as he is still only 32 years old.

The backline selected is a solid one made up of three former FIFA World Cup winners, with Franz Beckenbauer in the centre-back role, while Philipp Lahm and Paul Breitner were picked at right- and left-back, respectively.

The publication went with a four-man diamond midfield for their team, with Lothar Matthaus selected as a defensive mid, while Gunter Netzer would play in front of him. Down the flanks are Arjen Robben on the right and Brazilian Ze Roberto on the left.

The frontline is made up of current Bayern star Robert Lewandowski, joined by Uwe Seeler and Die Mannschaft legend Gerd Muller.
