Official: Dortmund Sign Brandt & Thorgan Hazard

Just a day after announcing their first signing ahead of next season, Borussia Dortmund have announced their second and third acquisitions of the 2019/20 campaign as well.

The Black and Yellows were bitterly disappointed to miss out on the 2018/19 Bundesliga crown to Bayern Munich, but steps have already been made to ensure they will challenge for the title again next season.

Having already confirmed the arrival of Germany left-back Nico Schulz from Hoffenheim, BVB have now announced the signing of Belgium international Thorgan Hazard from Borussia Monchengladbach for a reported fee of €25 million (R401 million).

Speaking on his switch, Eden Hazard's younger brother believes this was the perfect time for him to make the move.

"I am grateful for five great years at Borussia Mönchengladbach and very nice memories," he told BVB’s official website.

"Now was the perfect time to take the next step in my career.

"I am proud to play for Borussia Dortmund. This is a top club with incredible fans."

The 26-year-old represented his former club on 182 occasions, scoring 46 goals and assisting a further 44 strikes.

Later on Wednesday, Dortmund also announced the signature of 23-year-old Bayer Leverkusen winger Julian Brandt.

"I am a person who sometimes decides things from the gut and for whom a good feeling is important," Brandt said.

"In the case of Borussia Dortmund, I have a very good feeling. One of the main reasons for my change is that BVB narrowly missed out on the title last season, so there is room for improvement and I am very excited about the boys.

"I am very motivated and optimistic about my personal development but especially the whole team."

Brandt leaves Leverkusen 5.5 years with the club during which he scored 42 goals and assisted in another 51 in 212 appearances. His reported transfer fee is €25 million (R401 million) and the 23-year-old signed a four-year deal with BVB.
