The Austrian has one year left on his current contract at Bayern, and there is no indication he will sign a new deal.
Various reports in England suggest that the Citizens are keen to add the versatile star to their squad, but Sane is hoping to play alongside Alaba next season.
"I really hope David stays," Sane told Sport Bild.
"I would like to play with him. He is a good guy, a great footballer, and we like each other privately.
"David has proven that he is not only one of the world's best left-backs, but also exceptional in the centre."
