It was a scintillating first half from Leverkusen who scored three goals courtesy of strikes from Kevin Volland, Julian Brandt and Karim Bellarabi.
Bremen mounted a bit of a comeback in the second half and pulled two goals back through Claudio Pizarro and Yuya Osako, but that joy was short-lived.
Leverkusen found their form from the first half with Kai Havertz and Aleksandar Dragovic restoring their three-goal lead before an own goal by Bremen’s Sebastian Langkamp was the icing on the cake as the match ended 6-2.
The result sees Bremen drop to fourth on the table while Leverkusen moved up to 12th place with only their third win in the league.
