Result: Nurnberg 1-1 Bayer Leverkusen
Date: 03 December 2018
Bayer Leverkusen were left frustrated after they were held to a 1-1 draw by struggling Nurnberg in the Bundesliga on Monday evening.
The visitors were pushing for a second successive victory after they defeated Stuttgart 2-0 last weekend.
After a quiet start to the half, the visitors broke the deadlock through highly-rated midfielder Kai Havertz, who netted his third goal of the campaign.
However, that proved to be the only clear-cut opening of a very dull first half, as Nurnberg failed to trouble Leverkusen shot-stopper Lukas Hradecky.
As a result, the hosts introduced Patrick Erras at the start of the second half as they went in search of an equaliser to boost their relegation concerns.
Nurnberg came out a different side in the second half and they were rewarded in the 57th minute, with George Margreitter firing past Hradecky.
Leverkusen responded with a change in the 66th minute as Julian Brandt made way for Leon Bailey.
The visitors nearly re-took the lead with 11 minutes remaining in the half but Kevin Volland was denied by a superb save from Fabian Bredlow.
Both sides went in search of a winning goal in the final stages of the half, but Leverkusen shot-stopper Hradecky ensured the encounter ended all square with a last-gasp save to deny Nurnberg.
