Result: Koln 1-3 Bayern Munich
Date: 05 May 2018
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich came from behind to sink relegated FC Koln 3-1 at the RheinEnergieStadion on Saturday afternoon.
Koln went close to breaking the deadlock in the 10th minute as Simo Terodde went close with a header inside the box that sailed wide of the mark.
Robert Lewandowski should have given the Bavarians the lead in the 25th minute after going through on goal, but his strike was saved by Koln shot-stopper Timo Horn.
Five minutes later, the home side were ahead after a cross-cum-shot from Christian Clemens was inadvertently deflected into the net by Bayern defender Niklas Sule, 1-0.
Horn denied the Bavarians the equaliser two minutes before the break after pulling off a great reflex save to keep out Lewandowski’s diving header.
James Rodriguez eventually made it 1-1 on the hour-mark for the Bavarians with a simple tap-in inside the box following a cut-back by Thomas Muller
Lewandowski gave the visitors the lead two minutes later almost from a similar play as Muller held up play just outside the box to setup the onrushing Polish international, who guided his strike past Horn, 1-2.
The Bavarians piled on the pressure with 20 minutes to go looking to run away with the game.
With 10 minutes remaining, Corentin Tolisso sealed the win for the visitors with glancing header following a cross from James Rodriguez.
