German Bundesliga
Result: Hertha Berlin v Borussia Dortmund
Date: 19 January 2018
Venue: Olympiastadion Berlin
Borussia Dortmund came from behind to draw 1-1 with Hertha BSC at the Olympiastadion Berlin on Friday night, moving into third place.
In the 13th minute, Shinji Kagawa was presented with a chance, but headed over the bar after meeting a sublime cross from Christian Pulisic.
However, Dortmund’s momentum didn’t last long as Hertha began to take control. Around the half-hour mark, Valentino Lazaro fired into the side-netting.
Both teams had chances towards the end of the half, but they went into the break deadlocked at 0-0. However, it didn’t take long after the second half kicked off for Hertha to find their way in front. Lazaro’s low cross found Davie Selke, who slotted home the opener.
Dortmund responded well to going behind, heaping pressure on Hertha. However, they could easily have gone two down had Ondrej Duda not calamitously tapped Salomon Kalou’s goal-bound effort in from an offside position just after the hour mark.
Hertha were made to pay as Jadon Sancho set up Shinji Kagawa for a 71st minute area with some good footwork. The former Manchester United man was left with a simple header to level the scores and bag an away point.
