Result: Freiburg 3-1 Borussia Monchengladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach were denied the chance to move level on points with Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund following their 3-1 loss to Freiburg on Friday evening.
Gladbach came into the encounter unbeaten in their last four league encounters, the last of which was a 4-0 win over Mainz.
Freiburg were awarded a penalty inside the opening minute, with Nils Petersen duly converting from the spot to hand his side the lead.
Gladbach were awarded a penalty of their own in the 19th minute. Thorgan Hazard stepped up and calmly slotted home to restore parity for the visitors.
Both sides were unable to find more goals for the remaining stages of the half, despite the lively start to the encounter.
However, the home side restored their lead in the 57th minute through Gian-Luca Waldschmidt, who found the back of the net with a neat finish from close range.
The visitors responded by introducing by introducing Florian Neuhaus, who has already registered four assists in the current campaign.
Gladbach threw numbers forward in search of an equaliser in the closing stages, but it was Freiburg who got the next goal with Lucas Holer firing into an empty net from the halfway line after Yann Sommer had ventured forward.
The win sees Freiburg move up to eighth spot, while Gladbach remain in second spot, three points behind Dortmund.
