Result: Bayern Munich 5-1 Borussia Monchengladbach
Date: 14 April 2018
Venue: Allianz Arena
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich were in a rampant mood as they thumped Borussia Monchengladbach 5-1 at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.
The Bavarians wrapped up a sixth successive league title last weekend while they also secured a spot in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals this week.
They got off to a poor start in this weekend's clash when Gladbach took a ninth-minute lead thanks to a fine curling effort from Josip Drmic.
It took a while for Bayern to get going but they went close on 25 minutes when Thomas Muller headed wide from close range.
However, Muller helped Bayern restore parity as he did well to pick out Sandro Wagner, who slotted home from inside the box.
The turnaround was complete five minutes before the break following the same combination, Wagner grabbing his brace by turning home Muller's cross.
Six minutes into the second half, Bayern bagged a third goal thanks to Thiago Alcantara's close-range finish after Tolisso saw his strike saved by Yann Sommer.
It was 4-1 after 67 minutes as David Alaba got in on the act with a powerful right-footed effort from distance that left Sommer with no chance.
Robert Lewandowski rounded off the scoring for the German champions with eight minutes remaining with a fine finish into the bottom corner.
