Ruthless Bayern Cruise Into DFB Pokal

DFB Pokal

Report: Paderborn 0-6 Bayern Munich

Date: 06 February 2018

Venue: Benteler-Arena

Bayern Munich cruised into the DFB Pokal semi-finals with a 6-0 thumping of Paderborn at the Benteler-Arena on Tuesday evening.

Robert Lewandowki had an early chance to put the visitors ahead after four minutes but his power header inside the box was tipped over the bar by goalkeeper Michel Ratajczak.

Sebastian Schonlay had the ball in the back of the net for Paderborn in the 16th minute but was unfortunately flagged offside.

Kingsley Coman opened the scoring for Jupp Heynckes’ charges in the 22nd minute following a goal-mouth scramble, 0-1.

Lewandowski doubled the lead six minutes later after brilliantly chest-trapping Coman’s cross inside the box before picking his spot, 0-2.

Heynckes was forced into a change in the 33rd minute as Thomas Muller picked up an injury and was replaced by Corentin Tolisso.

Joshua Kimmich put the game to bed three minutes before the break after a run on the right wing saw him beat his marker before finding the top corner, 0-3.

Tolisso powered through the fourth goal 10 minutes into the second half following a corner, after the Paderborn defence failed to clear their lines.

Marlon Ritter could have registered a goal for the hosts 15 minutes before time but his curling shot from the edge of the box was well gathered by the Bavarians goalkeeper Sven Ulreich.

Robben put the icing on cake in the last three minutes with a first-time finish on the edge of the box that found the top corner, 0-5.

Robben completed his brace two minutes later as Paderborn tried to play an off-side trap but Ribery went through to play a one-two with the Dutch winger, who easily made it 6-0 from close range.
