'Ronaldo Is Too Old For Us'

Despite Cristiano Ronaldo being regarded as one of the best players in the world, the president of one of Europe's most historic clubs has declared the Juventus superstar "too old" to play for his side.

Five-time Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo has scored 20 goals in 20 Serie A appearances this season as he continues his remarkable return to form, but that has not stopped speculation he could leave the club at the end of the campaign.

One possible destination for the former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward is Bayern Munich, but club president Herbert Hainer has played down any possibility of the move taking place.

"Lots of names appear in the papers, and that is entirely understandable, but he is too old for us," Hainer told TZ, as reported by Football Italia.

Hainer's predecessor Uli Hoeness had also previously revealed that Bayern could have signed the Portugal international at the beginning of last season, but his age and the finances involved did not justify the move.

"Ronaldo is (at the time) 33 years old and he would have cost us 100 million euro," Hoeness said, according to CalcioMercato.

"We would have taken him for this figure if he was 24 years old."

Ronaldo is currently the second-highest goalscorer in Serie A this season, behind Lazio striker Ciro Immobile (25), and recently became the first-ever Juventus player to score in 10 consecutive league matches.
