The Blues are said to be keen to lure Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic to Stamford Bridge, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 20-year-old, who recently became the youngest ever captain in the US national team's history, is reportedly being considered as a replacement for Hazard in case the Belgium opts to leave the club.
Dortmund recently confirmed that Pulisic will not leave the club in January, but are bracing themselves for the end of the season, with his contract expiring in 2020.
It has been claimed that BVB have already held talks with Chelsea, who are leading the chase for the talented winger, with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur also said to be keen on the player.
The Blues are reportedly prepared to agree to a £70 million (R1.25 billion) deal in January in order to beat their Premier League rivals to Pulisic.
