African Star On Target As Dortmund Keep Pressure On Bayern

Wolfsburg 0-2 Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund kept the pressure on Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich with a 2-0 victory away to Wolfsburg on Saturday afternoon.

For the second game in a row, Dortmund manager Lucien Favre decided to start Jadon Sancho on the bench while Marco Reus remained sidelined.

Despite Sancho's absence, the visitors took the lead in the 32nd minute through Raphael Guerreiro's second goal in as many games.

Dortmund had to wait until the 78th minute for the second goal as Achraf Hakimi slotted home from close range after a cross from Sancho, who was introduced after 65 minutes.

The hosts finished the encounter with 10 men as Felix Klaus received his marching orders with eight minutes left in the contest.

Borussia Monchengladbach 1-3 Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen leapfrogged Borussia Monchengladbachinto third spot in the standings with an impressive 3-1 win at Borussia-Park.

After bagging a brace in the 4-1 win over Werder Bremen on Monday night, Kai Havertz opened the scoring as early as the seventh minute.

Marcus Thuram managed to equalise for Gladbach in the 52nd minute, before a penalty from Havertz and a 81st minute strike from Sven Bender sealed the points for Leverkusen.

Freiburg 0-1 Werder Bremen

Werder Bremen gave their survival bid a major boost after registering a 1-0 win over Freiburg on Saturday evening.

Leonardo Bittencourt handed the visitors the lead after 19 minutes, after turning home a cross from Davy Klaasen.

The solitary goal was enough to hand Bremen the spoils after Freiburg had a late goal disallowed for offside, which sees the visitors move to within two of safety in 17th spot.

Paderborn 1-1 Hoffenheim

Paderborn were unable to boost their survival hopes after playing to a 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim.

The game got off to a lively start after Robert Skov put the visitors ahead after just four minutes before Dennis Srbeny equalised five minutes later.

Both sides struggled to bag a winner as the game went on, leaving Paderborn in 18th spot while Hoffenheim miss the chance to move into the top six.
