Lars Stindl bagged Gladbach's third goal in the 58th minute while Denis Zakaria rounded off the scoring in the 77th minute.
Gladbach leapfrog Eintracht Frankfurt into second spot, while Hannover find themselves in 16th position.

Werder Bremen extended their winless run in the league to four matches with a 1-1 draw away to Freiburg.
Luca Waldschmidt put the home side ahead from the penalty spot three minutes before the halftime break.
The hosts looked set for three points until Ludwig Augustinsson netted the equaliser for Bremen in second-half stoppage time.
The point moved Bremen up to seventh spot, while Freiburg jump up to 13th.
