A Bundesliga side that recently played friendlies against Absa Premiership outfits Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits has achieved a unique scoring record, one matched only by Cristiano Ronaldo's Juventus and Neymar's Paris Saint-Germain this season.
Werder Bremen looked poised to end their six-game unbeaten streak in Germany's top flight over the weekend. However, the River Islanders displayed great resilience to grab a goal in the 74th minute and secure a 1-1 draw against Wolfsburg.
Not only did the result keep Bremen's unbeaten streak in the league alive, but Max Kruse's equaliser at the Volkswagen Arena saw Bremen extend their goalscoring streak to 24 successive league matches, a record matched only by PSG and Juventus across Europe's top five leagues.
Florian Kohfeldt's men have thrived this season, largely due to their shared goalscoring duties.
According to WhoScored.com, 14 players have contributed to the 39 goals Bremen have scored in the campaign thus far, with Kruse and Maximilian Eggestein being the top scorers with fives strikes each.
With 35 goals conceded, Kohfeldt's side also boast one of the better defensive records in Germany's top flight in 2018/19, with only Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, Borussia Monchengladbach, Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolfsburg and Hertha Berlin having conceded less goals than Bremen, who currently occupy 10th position on the table.
