Result: Stuttgart 0-0 Fortuna Dusseldorf
Date: 21 September 2018
Stuttgart's search for a first Bundesliga win of the season continues after they failed to secure maximum points against Fortuna Dusseldorf on Friday evening.
Stuttgart came into the encounter looking for their first victory of the season, having registered one point in their opening three games, while Dusseldorf are unbeaten in their last two games.
Mario Gomez nearly gifted the hosts the lead after 10 minutes, but the German forward fired wide after meeting a free-kick from Gonzalo Castro.
Chardac Akolo could have put Stuttgart after 35 minutes, but his curling effort was thwarted by goalkeeper, Michael Rensing while Gomez failed to convert the rebound.
The second half proved to be a livelier affair, with both goalkeepers being called into action, although Reinsburg was the more busier.
It proved to be an off night for Stuttgart's Gomez as he squandered a chance to put his side ahead with 10 minutes remaining, after firing wide at the far post.
Neither side could find a winning goal in the closing stages, as Stuttgart's stretched their winless run to four games this season.
