Borussia Monchengladbach drew 1-1 with Freiburg to leapfrog RB Leipzig into third place on the Bundesliga table
Monchengladbach, who are gunning down a European slot, fell behind on 10 minutes through Vincenzo Grifo’s bottom-corner finish.
The lead lasted just six minutes, as Thorgan Hazard’s pass set up Alassane Plea to finish from close-range, much to the joy of the home crowd.
Freiburg pressed for a way back, but Nils Petersen failed to turn home Grifo’s cross from a corner kick eight minutes to halftime.
Following the second half, Gladbach’s attacking momentum intensified as Hazard shot went around the outside post from Fabian Johnson’s assist.
Just after the hour mark, Lars Stindl set Jonas Hofmann through on goal, but the latter’s shot from right side of the area was saved by Alexander Schwolow.
As time winded down, chances fell to a premium with Hazard firing over the top from a difficult angle as the point was enough to see Gladbach go third albeit temporarily.
