Borussia Dortmund returned to winning ways in the Bundesliga with a 3-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday evening.
Filip Kostic almost opened the scoring for Frankfurt in the sixth minute with a left-footed strike from inside the box but Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Bürki made a good save.
Dortmund were already in danger of falling behind the leaders after dropping points last week, but they eventually broke the deadlock after s a sluggish start, with Abdou Diallo firing home from close range on 36 minutes.
The two sides were exchanging attacks in the remaining stages of the first stanza, but the hosts managed to take the 1-0 lead into the break.
Adi Hütter’s troops were seeing much more of the ball after the hour-mark but were yet to create clear chances, as Dortmund started to look shaky at the back.
The visitors' persistence 22 minutes before time as Sebastien Haller snatched the equaliser with a strike from close range.
However, Marius Wolf quickly restored the lead for Dortmund four minutes later, netting from the left side of the box following a through ball from Jadon Sancho.
Paco Alcacer - on loan from FC Barcelona- made it 3-1 for Dortmund two minutes before time with left-footed strike from outside the box to seal all the three points for the hosts.
