Result: Bayern Munich v Bayer Leverkusen
Date: 30 November 2019
Venue: Allianz Arena
Bayern Munich missed the chance to move level on points with the Bundesliga leaders after suffering a 2-1 loss to Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday evening.
The visitors took an early lead after Leon Bailey found the back of the net with a close-range finish after being played in by Kevin Volland.
Bayern went agonisingly close to pulling themselves level on 22 minutes as Ivan Perisic rattled the frame of the goal after some good work by Robert Lewandowski.
The equaliser eventually arrived just over 10 minutes later, with Thomas Muller firing a fine effort past Hradecky after latching onto Leon Goretzka's pass.
However, Leverkusen restored their lead a minute later as Volland and Bailey combined once again, with the latter beating Manuel Neuer with a powerful effort to complete his brace.
As expected, Bayern came out firing in the second half and were nearly rewarded in the 54th minute but Lewandowski was unable to direct his close-range effort on target.
Bayern interim coach Hansi Fleck opted for a double change on 69 minutes as Philippe Coutinho and Kingsley Coman replaced Muller and Perisic.
Leverkusen made things tough for themselves with 11 minutes remaining when defender Jonathan Tah received his marching orders after being shown a straight red card for bringing down Coutinho, who was through on goal.
However, Bayern were unable to make their numerical advantage count as Leverkusen held on for a crucial victory, while the defending champions remain in fourth spot.
