Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski: Why It’s Easier For Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo & FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi To Score
Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has explained why he believes it is easier for Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to score goals.
The 29-year-old has once again been in great form this season, having scored 27 goals in 32 games for the Bundesliga giants so far.
However, despite his regular goalscoring exploits, the Poland striker is yet to hit the heights of the two LaLiga superstars.
"Messi and Ronaldo have an advantage because they aren't classic No. 9s," Lewandowski told Kicker.
"For a central striker it is more difficult sometimes because you have your back towards goal. You have to keep the ball, see what is happening, turn around and then go forward. It is easier when you have the pitch in front of you."
Lewandowski also addressed rumours linking him with a move to Real Madrid once again, and insisted he is fully focused on his job at Bayern.
"At the moment, I do not worry about it," he added.
"If I was to think about the Real speculation as a Bayern player, it would not be good for me because I wouldn't be focused on my job here anymore. I'm a Bayern player and I want to give everything here."
Lewandowski has scored 137 goals in 179 games for Bayern since joining the club in 2014 and will be keen to add more strikes when the German side faces Besiktas in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Last 16 on Wednesday night.
