Bayern Munich have reportedly made contact with the camp of a Manchester United and Chelsea target.
With the news that star player Joshua Kimmich may be out for a long period due to a knee injury, the Bavarians have reportedly joined the race for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.
The Switzerland star has also struggled with injury recently, but is widely considered to be one of the top defensive midfielders in the German top flight.
According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern have been in contact with the player's representatives regarding a possible move.
German football journalist Christian Falk reported in October that both the Red Devils and the Blues were interested in the player.
Chelsea splurged heavily on attacking recruits in the latest window, and Frank Lampard is short of natural defensive midfielders, especially with France star N'Golo Kante linked with a move away, while United have an ageing Nemanja Matic, Fred and Scott McTominay as options for that position.
