Schalke 04 midfielder and Morocco international Amine Harit, who was named December's Rookie of the Month, has been crowned the young player of the season.
Since his transfer from Ligue 1 outfit FC Nantes in July 2017, the midfielder has gone on to make 31 league appearances for the German club, scoring three goals and assisting in a further six more.
The 20-year-old, who is in his country's 2018 FIFA World Cup provisional squad, beat Jann-Fiete Arp, Tatsuya Ito (both Hamburger SV), Sebastian Haller (Eintracht Frankfurt), Valentino Lazaro (Hertha Berlin), Benjamin Pavard (VfB Stuttgart), Jadon Sancho and Dan-Axel Zagadou (both Borussia Dortmund) to the prestigious award.
Harit, who was originally born in France, won the European U19 Championship with Les Bleus in 2016, but has since decided to represent his parent's homeland, Morocco.
