An Egypt international claims Liverpool star Mohamed Salah remains the "best in the world" despite missing out on the Ballon d'Or this week.
The Reds striker finished seventh in the final voting this year while the only African player, Riyad Mahrez, came in at number 20.
Aston Villa and Pharaohs attacker Mahmoud Trezeguet believes his countryman will push to win the award next year after a great start to this campaign.
“I know that Salah feels sad that he did not win the Ballon d’Or, but he is the best player in the world, and this is not a compliment, but he indeed is the best,” Trezeguet told MBC Masr TV channel, as per King Fut.
“Salah is a great player and a role model for me and everyone that wants to succeed, his records are great and I think he deserved to win the award, I am sure he will try to win the Ballon d’Or again next year.”
Former Liberia and AC Milan star George Weah remains the only African footballer to have won the Ballon d'Or.
