Ivory Coast superstar Yaya Toure has named his star-studded dream team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but snubbed Neymar and also did not have a place for a single African representative.

In the build-up to the tournament, the 35-year-old, who is now a free agent, sprung a few surprises with his dream XI for the competition, the biggest being his decision to not pick the world's most expensive player for it, as well as the fact that he declined to select any African.

In goals, Toure decided to go with Manchester United and Spain goalkeeper David de Gea. The 27-year-old is now his country's No. 1 and is likely to play a big part in La Furia Roja's chances of winning the tournament.

The former Citizens star then named two of his ex-teammates in defence, with Benjamin Mendy and Kyle Walker playing on either side of Real Madrid duo Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos.

In midfield, the Ivorian selected Brazil international Casemiro and Croatia's Luka Modric as his central pairing, with Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentina superstar Lionel Messi operating down the left and right flanks, respectively.

Toure's attack consists of France starlet Kylian Mbappe and City striker Sergio Aguero, who is expected to lead the line for La Albiceleste at the tournament.
