After being beaten to the 2019 CAF Player of the Year award by Sadio Mane on Tuesday night, Manchester City and Algeria winger Riyad Mahrez sent the Senegalese superstar a message.
Although he could not be present at the awards ceremony in Egypt, City star Mahrez was full of congratulations for his African and Premier League rival Mane.
After appearing and scoring for the Citizens in their 3-1 away victory in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg on Tuesday, the 28-year-old took to Twitter to send his best wishes to Mane, who won his first CAF best player award.
"Congratulations to Sadio for his trophy, well deserved and sorry I couldn't come, but I had to start scoring for the 2020 trophy," he wrote.
"See you next year inch'Allah."
