Egypt Coach Hits Back At Ramos Amid Salah Claim

Egypt head coach Hector Cuper has hit back at Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos after his recent claims regarding his challenge on Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah in the UEFA Champions League final.

Ramos Breaks Silence On Salah Injury, Makes Weird Claim

The Premier League Golden Boot winner dislocated his shoulder after tangling with the Spain centre-back in the UCL decider last month.

On Tuesday, Ramos broke his silence on the controversial challenge, and while he defended himself, he also claimed that Salah could have played on if he had been given a pain-killing injection.

Pharoahs coach Cuper did not take the defender's comments about Salah lightly, and backed his forward's decision to walk off in the final.

"I'm not a doctor, I don't know if (Sergio) Ramos is a doctor, but it's a player who is playing a final and has an injury," he said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.

"I don't have any doubt that if he could keep playing, he would do it, because a Champions League final is extraordinary."

The Argentine tactician also said he is still hopeful Salah will be fit for Egypt's opening game of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which is against Uruguay on 15 June.

"My opinion is that Salah has an important injury, there is a recovering (process) that we can see, and we are optimistic about the chances he has to play in the World Cup," he added.

"We listen to many things, but the reality is that the doctors recover or confirm a problem in a player."

The 25-year-old made 52 appearances for the Merseyside club last season, scoring 44 goals and assisting a further 16 strikes.
