After Zimbabwe's 2019 Africa Cup of Nations was overshadowed by controversy, the Warriors have now announced a new-look squad for their upcoming qualifiers for the 2022 Fifa World Cup.

Zimbabwe were among the 28 lowest-ranked teams in the latest Fifa rankings, and will have to play a preliminary two-legged qualifier against Somalia to book their ticket to the group stage of African World Cup qualification.
Interim coach Joey Antipas has now announced his squad for the upcoming double-header, and left out several foreign-based players, including captain Knowledge Musona, who said to be recovering after undergoing hernia surgery, as reported by New Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, new Aston Villa signing Marvelous Nakamba was given more time to settle in at his new club after joining the Premier League side in this transfer window.
George Chigova, Edmore Sibanda, Danny Phiri, Ovidy Karuru and Knox Mtizwa were also not called up for the squad, which features only 10 players from Zim's Afcon 2019 team.
