Why Yaya Is Training With Fourth-Tier Club Revealed

Earlier in the year, Yaya Toure was close to finalising a transfer to one of Brazil's elite teams, but he has now been pictured training with a club in England's fourth tier. Here is the reported reason why he is doing so.

The 37-year-old was seemingly used as a "promise signing" by Vasco da Gama presidential candidate Leven Siano in June after both parties reportedly agreed to a transfer and the player appeared in a video on social media appearing to confirm the move.

However, that transfer never materialised, and a switch to Botafogo also collapsed when his wife reportedly decided she was not interested in living in Rio de Janeiro.

Toure has now appeared in a training session at Leyton Orient, as the League 2 side announced on social media.

The Daily Mail has reported that the Ivory Coast legend's representatives contacted the fourth-tier club to ask them if the four-time African Footballer of the Year could keep fit at Orient while travel restrictions prevent him from returning to China.

The former Manchester City and FC Barcelona star is expected to once again move abroad and will likely return to Qingdao Huanghai once travel restrictions are lifted, according the English publication.

He helped the Chinese side gain promotion last season, and Qingdao's Chinese Super League campaign is set to kick off on the weekend.

It remains to be seen how long Toure will train with Orient and when he will be allowed to return to China.
