It has been claimed that ex-Mamelodi Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane departed Al Ahly due to recent comments he made in the media.
Ex-Al Ahly Star Criticises Tau
The Egyptian Premier League giants announced Mosimane's exit last week following crunch talks between the tactician and the club's board.
His departure from the club he joined in 2020 came following Al Ahly's CAF Champions League final defeat to Wydad Casablanca in Morocco, a match many believe caused the South African to perform a U-turn in discussions.
While he leaves Cairo having added five pieces of silverware to his trophy cabinet, his relationship with his players was believed to have soured towards the end of his time in charge, as speculated by several pundits and former Al Ahly players.
This is a sentiment shared by ex-Egypt coach Hassan Shehata, who feels Mosimane's recent public displays of frustration ultimately led to his decision to bring his spell in north Africa to an end.
"I consider Mosimane to be a very good coach, but his recent actions and comments were the reasons behind his departure," he said, according to KingFut.
Mosimane claimed the Egypt Cup, two Champions Leagues and two CAF Super Cups at Al Ahly, while he also made history with two third-placed finishes at the FIFA Club World Cup in 2020 and 2021.
