A Nigerian footballer who plays for local club Kano Pillars has sadly passed away after being involved in a car accident.

Chinedu Udoji, who won two league titles, two Nigeria FA Cups and reached the semi-final of the 2011 CAF Champions League with his former club Enyimba, lost his life on Sunday.

The 28-year-old defender of top Nigerian club Kano Pillars died after facing his old club on the pitch and visiting his former employers after the game, according to BBC Africa.

Udoji is the second African footballer to lose his life in a car accident in recent days – Polokwane City's Mogau Trinity Tshela passed away last week.

Soccer Laduma would like to send its heartfelt condolences to Kano Pillars, Udoji's family, friends and those affected by the passing of the footballer.
