The 30-year-old, who is currently a free agent after his contract with Brescia came to an end, has now been linked with Al Ahly rivals Pyramids FC after initiating talks over a two-year contract, according to African journalist Yaw Ampofo.
Ampofo told Soccer Laduma that "no agreements have been reached yet", but the parties are in talks. Balotelli's agent, Mino Raiola, is yet to comment on the speculation.
Pyramids recently signed former Huddersfield Town attacker Ramadan Sobhi, who reportedly snubbed the opportunity to rejoin his boyhood club Al Ahly for one of their biggest rivals.
Meanwhile, it is claimed in Italy that Balotelli is currently training with Serie D (Italy's fourth division) side Franciacorta in order to stay fit.
The Italian is said to be a friend of a player and the sporting director at Franciacorta, and is training with the squad while he waits for the right offer to continue his playing career.
