Ghana Announce Squad For Bafana Clash, Big Stars Miss Out!

Ghana have announced their 29-man squad for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa, leaving out some of the country's biggest names, although a certain PSL star did make the selection.

Coach Charles Akonnor has selected a mixture of home-based and overseas players, and decided to stick with nine Black Stars from his initial camp.

Ghana will take on Bafana Bafana on 25 March in Johannesburg, before facing Sao Tome and Principe on 28 March.

The Black Stars are currently top of Group C with nine points, and could book their ticket to AFCON 2021 with a victory over Molefi Ntseki's men.

However, they will be missing several key players, such as captain Andre Ayew and Thomas Partey, who would likely have been withdrawn from the squad had they been selected because they would have to go into a 10-day quarantine upon their return to England, something their clubs would have been against.

Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Richard Ofori, though, did make the selection, and could reclaim his No. 1 spot under Akonnor.
