Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahly proved too strong for Smouha after registering a 4-0 win as they continue to play catch up in the Egyptian Premier League.
Yasser Ibrahim and Hussein El-Sahat were among the players recalled to the line-up by Mosimane after Thursday draw against Pyramids.
El-Sahat looked to have picked up where he left off on Thursday, as his acrobatic effort found the back of the net on 25 minutes but the strike was ruled out for offside.
Al Ahly did get their reward in a crazy final five minutes of the first half, as Mohamed Sherif opened the scoring on 40 minutes after combining with Taher Mohamed.
The lead was doubled a minute later when El-Shahat made up for his earlier misses with a close-range finish, while the third goal arrived on 44 minutes through Ali Maaloul's penalty.
The Red Devils added to their advantage the second half after Sherif completed his brace by turning home a cross from Maaloul on 58 minutes.
The four goals were enough to the damage on the night, as Al Ahly climb to second spot but they sit 16 points behind league leaders Zamalek.
