Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, who was involved in a spat with fans after Montreal Impact's loss on the weekend, has now commented on the incident.
The 38-year-old, who has scored 10 goals in 21 Major League Soccer games this season, was not able to prevent his side's 1-0 defeat to New York Red Bulls on Sunday.
Subsequent footage from after the match shows the striker, who was on his way to the dressing room, arguing with two men, with security guards having to intervene to prevent the altercation from becoming serious, as shown in this video posted on Twitter by Metro Soccer Nation's Matthew Klimberg.
"There were two fans who were showing their enthusiasm a little too much. They crossed the line a bit, that's all," Drogba said of the incident, as quoted by Sky Sports.
Despite the defeat, Impact remained in fifth position, inside the play-off spots, in the Eastern Conference of the MLS, while the Red Bulls lead the table,
