With an African having scored the fastest goal of this season's UEFA Champions League campaign so far, here are the 10 best African goalscorers in European competition history, including Benni McCarthy.

Click through the gallery above to see Africa's most successful scorers in European competitions, according to UEFA.

Seydou Doumbia netted Sporting Lisbon's opener against Olympiacos on Tuesday night, finding the back of the net after just two minutes.

Overall, the Ivory Coast striker has now scored 28 times in European competition – 19 in the Champions League (including qualifiers) and nine in the UEFA Europa League (including qualifiers, as well as its predecessor the UEFA Cup).

In the overall UEFA ranking, Doumbia sits in sixth place, two behind Bafana Bafana all-time record scorer Benni McCarthy, who netted 32 goals in European competition.

The South African's tally is bettered by only three players: George Weah – Africa's only FIFA World Player of the Year – scored 35 goals in European competition and sits in third place, while FC Barcelona legend Samuel Eto'o, with 48 strikes, and Africa's top goalscorer in Europe, Didier Drogba, with 50 goals, lead the ranking.

I am of the view that since all these players who made top 10 Africa's best scorers in Europe are all strikers. Therefore, the best of them all is the one with high number of goal, Didier Drogba. George Weah though is the only African player who was named a World Player of the Year, he's below Drogba in scoring chart.

Despite having a long injury list, Mosimane says he will still be able to put out a team that can compete and get the desired result at Lucas Moripe Stadium this weekend. The key man will be Percy Tau, who scored a brilliant brace against Ea Lla Koto. The defending champions need the Bafana Bafana forward to perform the same way he did on Monday, to inspire them to victory. Other players that can chip in with goals are Sibusiso Vilakazi, Themba Zwane and George Lebese. “It’s a difficult game because we are lacking strikers. [Yannick] Zakri is injured. Leo [Castro] just came in and he has not been around. The 50 minutes he gave us [against Stars] I was happy with. It could be better,” Mosimane told the media after the victory at Goble Park. “Khama [Billiat] is injured, Laffor is injured. It’s a problem, but we should not complain. We will have 11 players on the pitch and we will have substitutes. You know when they [the players] come from international games, that’s the problems. That’s why we had to sign other players.” Jingles concluded
