A former Al Ahly player has slammed the Egyptian giants following their shock 1-0 loss to Simba SC in the CAF Champions League this week, claiming it was one of the worst performances he has seen from them in recent times.
The Red Devils suffered a group stage defeat to the Tanzanian side on Tuesday, leaving club legend Emad Meteb bitterly disappointed by what he saw.
The ex-Egypt international questioned some of his former team's tactics, and also claimed that the players did not seem up for the challenge.
"Al Ahly's performance against Simba was one of their worst in the recent period," he told OnTime Sport TV.

"We can't create excuses. I have previously played in the Tanzanian weather. But where was Al Ahly's attacking shape throughout the match?
"I will not talk about the formation, as this is Mosimane's choice. But I have one thing to reproach him, which is that when you put three players in the midfield, they are supposed to have more offensive roles.
"Al Ahly players lacked the spirit on the pitch. We, as a team, are far better than Simba, but Al Ahly's appearance in this way was strange."
Al Ahly are currently third in the Group A table, having recorded one win and one loss so far in this season's CAFCL.
