Following Al Ahly's resounding 4-0 win over ES Setif in the CAF Champions League, a club legend was full of praise for star man Percy Tau's performance.
Al Ahly Star Gives Teammates Special Praise After CAF CL Win
Ahly went into the match against the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 side off the back of three successive draws, but the Red Devils made light work of Darko Novic's men, with Tau having a hand in all four goals for the Egyptians.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion forward opened the scoring for Pitso Mosimane's men before turning provider for the next two goals as Taher Mohamed and Mohamed Sherif found the back of the net. Tau then completed the rout by scoring the fourth and final goal of the match.
Wael Gomaa, who won six Champions League titles with Al Ahly, had nothing but good words to say about the Witbank-born forward's performance.
"ES Setif were better in the past games unlike their performance today," he said, as per KingFut.
"I'm happy that the spirit is back, we want the team like this. Al Ahly's board is the only one in Africa that provides everything to the players and the coaching staff.
"This is Percy Tau's best match with Al Ahly. I hope that the performance and spirit of the players won't stop after today. We are not used to compromising between the win or performance.
"Those who work in Al Ahly are never relaxed. Pitso Mosimane has not been subjected to this pressure since the club brought him, and the last period was a lesson for him and his players."
The victory comes at a good time for Mosimane, who has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism from various Al Ahly legends following a poor run of form in the Egyptian Premier League.
On the brink of a third consecutive Champions League final appearance, the former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach has now perhaps alleviated some of the pressure on him.
