Al Ahly legend Wael Gomaa has backed Pitso Mosimane's side to walk away with the win in Sunday's night's Cairo Derby against Zamalek.
The CAF Champions League holders have been playing catch up in the Egyptian Premier League as they trail Zamalek by six points, although they have played three games less.
Despite missing a few key players, Gomaa is confident the Red Devils will reign victorious this evening.
“Regarding the absences, and despite the importance of the name we mentioned. But Al Ahly never needed any players to win, we win with what we have,” Gomaa told Hitara Show, according to King Fut.
“In the 80s Al Ahly punished the whole first team and decided to face Zamalek with the youth players and ended up winning.
“This is just to prove that Al Ahly never shies away from a challenge and the current team has some very good players, who can beat them or else they won’t deserve to wear the red shirt.
“I know the people who work at Al Ahly very well and I can tell you with all certainty that they don’t have this mentality.
“The game will be very crucial due to the proximity in points between both clubs. Al Ahly still have a couple of games in hand but Zamalek are only playing for the league and Egypt Cup so I expected to be a very competitive encounter.
“However, it won’t be a title decider as there are still many games to go in the Egyptian Premier League and the team with strongest endurance and a strong personality will win it. I believe these qualities are present within the Al Ahly which is why I believe they will win the league title,” he concluded.
