The incident occurred during LA Galaxy's 2-1 Major League Soccer (MLS) win over Real Salt Lake, in which the 37-year-old scored the winner.
During the fixture, Ibrahimovic was involved in a heated altercation with centre-back Nedum Onuoha, who was born in Nigeria but grew up in England. The Swede appeared to have caught the former Manchester City defender with his arm, which led to a tussle on the pitch.
In addition, the striker also could not resist celebrating his winner in front of Onuoha, but later tried to apologise for his behaviour in the dressing room.
"He came in to apologise after the game, because from 60 minutes in, he's saying he's going to do me, he's going to hurt me for that game," Onuoha said after the match, as quoted by Sky Sports.
"This is a guy who is the face of MLS, as he calls himself, and he plays that way on the field.
"If someone comes in and says that to me, I'm not going to accept his apology. It's unacceptable."

Ibrahimovic himself did not say much about the clash, insisting that "what happens on the field stays on the field".
"I like to feel alive," the retired Sweden star said. "I like when it becomes duels and that because sometimes, not that I fall asleep, but I don't feel alive if they don't activate me.
"They need to activate me or else it becomes too easy. I know me. When I get angry, I feel good."
Ibrahimovic has now scored eight goals in seven MLS games so far this season, helping his side to second spot in the MLS table, just one point behind leaders Los Angeles FC with one game in hand.
