With Manchester United having a troublesome season so far, one of their recent signings has now been singled out for criticism by a former Premier League player, who insisted an African star "is 100 times better" than the Red Devils star is.
United are currently sixth in the Premier League, three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, who also have a better goal difference.
Arsenal are one position above the Red Devils, which means that both the Blues and the Gunners would need to slip up in their remaining two games while United need to win both of theirs in order to keep their hopes of qualifying for next season's UEFA Champions League alive.
One of the players who have largely disappointed at Old Trafford in 2018/19 is Fred, and the Brazilian midfielder has now come in for some heavy criticism from former Arsenal star Paul Merson, who compared him to Senegal international and Everton star Idrissa Gueye.
"I look at their players and I don't want to dig out Fred, that he's not good enough for Manchester United," he said, as quoted by the Daily Star.
"The lad at Everton is 100 times better than him, Idrissa Gueye's 100 times better than him.
"£52 million (for Fred), it's not like he was a free.
"I'm not a Man United fan, but I was embarrassed. It was a cringe-worthy display (against Everton)."
Fred has started just 13 Premier League games this campaign, but United might need his services in their final two games of the season, away at Huddersfield Town and against Cardiff City at home.
