Africa's World Cup Dream Team

With the groups for the 2018 FIFA World Cup being drawn today, here is an African dream team made up of players who could be boarding the plane to Russia with their national teams next year.

Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia will be representing the continent at the global showpiece, and ESPN has selected a starting XI they think would do Africa proud if they were to play together at the tournament.

Morocco goalkeeper Munir Mohand Mohamedi was picked to stand between the sticks, and the reason for this is that he conceded zero goals throughout the qualifying campaign. The 28-year-old, who struggled for consistency earlier in his career, plays his football in La Liga for Numancia.

In defence are Tunisia international Ali Maaloul, Morocco star Medhi Benatia, Senegal and Napoli centre back Kalidou Koulibaly, and Chelsea wing-back Victor Moses.

The publication decided to go with a four-man midfield, opting for Morocco's deep-lying playmaker Mbark Boussoufa, with Senegal’s Idrissa Gueye partners him in the middle of the park. Morocco winger Hakim Ziyech and Senegal star Balde Keita find themselves on the flanks.
