Morocco Thrash Nigeria To Clinch CHAN Title
Tournament hosts Morocco hammered 10-man Nigeria 4-0 in a one-sided final on Sunday evening.
Zakaria Hadraf scored on the stroke of half-time to put Morocco in front. In the third minute after the break, the Super Eagles’ task in reversing that lead got even more difficult when Peter Moses was sent off.
Walid El Karti then doubled Morocco’s lead in the 61st minute before a second Hadraf goal three minutes later all but sealed the tournament.
Even then, the hosts weren’t finished. Ayoub El Kaabi well and truly put the cherry on top with a goal in the 74th minute.
On Saturday evening, Sudan clinched third place with a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Libya.
Walaa Eldin Musa Yagoub put Sudan ahead in the eighth minute with a goal that looked destined to clinch bronze until late on. However, Libya equalised through Salem Ablo in the 84th minute.
Akram El Hadi ultimately proved to be the hero, saving penalties from Elmehdi Elhouni and Ablo in the shootout and giving his side the last laugh.
