The transfer window shut on Wednesday, but these 10 Africans – including three former Orlando Pirates stars and a UEFA Champions League winner – are out of contract and could still move.

Sulley Muntari is one of the most high profile African players currently out of contract. The 33-year-old won the UEFA Champions League with Inter in 2010 but his career is slowly coming to an end. Muntari was last on the books of Italian side Pescara, but left the club in April 2017 and has since been without a club.
Alex Song is another African star, who many still remember for his time at Arsenal and FC Barcelona, without a club and available on a free deal. The 30-year-old Cameroon midfielder is currently keeping fit under Arsene Wenger, but the Frenchman confirmed he has no interest in resigning his former player, who left Rubin Kazan in January.
Steven Pienaar and Tokelo Rantie are probably the biggest South African free agents right now. Rantie left his Turkish side Genclerbirligi in January and has been closely linked with a switch to Cape Town City. Pienaar, meanwhile, was released by Bidvest Wits after just six months and it remains to be seen where ‘Schillo’ will end up or whether he might decide to hang up his boots.
You can find more African players in the gallery, while other famous stars such as Samir Nasri, Patrice Evra and Bacary Sagna fall into the same bracket.
