In a statement released by CAF, the EFA has been fined $100 000 (R1.5 million), half of which is suspended, for a breach of media protocols and directives at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
"This is after Egypt FA failed to honour a media press conference on 29 January 2022 ahead of their match against Morocco in the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals in Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium which is part of the obligations for all the participating teams," the statement on CAF's official website read.
"Media and CAF Rights Holders had waited almost two hours for Egypt to arrive for the scheduled press conference. Egypt FA have 60 days to pay the 50 000 USD fine.
"The other 50 000 USD is suspended on the condition that Egypt FA are not found guilty with a similar offence during the TotalEnergies African Cup Of Nations, Cameroon 2021 as a result of the team failing to observe CAF's Decisions and Directives as agreed at the pre-tournament teams' associations media and marketing meeting and further amplified by the documentation and Directives given to them upon their arrival to Cameroon."

CAF's Disciplinary Board has also charged Morocco and Egypt's players and officials for a breach of conduct following their heated quarter-final clash this past weekend, which the Pharaohs won 2-1 after extra-time.
Former Ajax Cape Town boss Roger De Sa, who currently works as Egypt manager Carlos Queiroz's assistant coach, has been suspended for four games, which will see him miss out on the team's upcoming last-four tie.
CAF said they decided "to suspend Egypt assistant coach, Mr. Rogerio Paulo Dos Santos Cesar De Sa for four matches; namely match no. 50 (semi-final) and match no. 52 (final) or match no. 51 (3rd place match) in addition to his next two matches with his national team, for using an obscene gesture, and to impose a fine of 10 000 USD on Egyptian Federation".
Egypt will take on hosts Cameroon at the semi-final stage of the tournament on Thursday, with the first semi-final between Burkina Faso and Senegal taking place on Wednesday night.
