Pirates Star Nets Twice To Sink Zimbabwe, Ghana Remain Winless

Group B
Malawi 2-1 Zimbabwe

Malawi registered their first win in Group B after defeating Zimbabwe 2-1 on Friday evening.

There were a host of Premier Soccer League-based players on display as Gabadinho Mhango returned for Malawi alongside Richard Mbulu, while Onismor Bhasera and Gerald Takwara started for the warriors.

The Warriors broke the deadlock in the 38th minute courtesy of a fine header from Ishmael Wadi from Bhasera's cross.

That joy was short-lived as Mhango brought Malawi back level five minutes later with his first goal of the campaign after turning home a cross from Francisco Madinga.

Malawi complete the turnaround on the hour mark when Mhango took advantage of a defensive mix-up to run through on goal and lob Petros Mhari.

Senegal 0-0 Guinea

Senegal and Guinea had to settle for a share of the spoils after playing to a goalless draw on Friday afternoon at Stade Omnisports de Bafoussam.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Idrissa Gueye and AC Milan's Fode Ballo-Toure missed out against Guinea after testing positive before the club.

Both nations had secured wins in their opening games, but neither could find a breakthrough and had settle for a point a piece.

Group C
Morocco 2-0 Comoros

Morocco made it back-to-back wins in Group C after defeating Comoros 2-0 on Firday evening.

The Moroccans saw off Ghana by a one-goal margin in their opening game, while Comoros went down by the same score against Gabon.

The Atlas Lions maintained their 100 percent record thanks to Selim Amallah's 16th minutes strike, before Zakaria Aboukhlal sealed the win in second-half stoppage time.

Gabon 1-1 Ghana

Ghana remain without a win at the Africa Cup of Nations after drawing 1-1 with Gabon at the Stade Omnisport Ahmadou Ahidjo.

Gabon were still without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mario Lemina as they recover from Covid-19.

The Black Stars got the opening goal in the 18th minute with a superb strike from distance from Andre Ayew, who took his tally to 10 goals at Afcon.

Ghana were minutes away from securing maximum points until Jim Allevinah bagged the equaliser for Gabon with two minutes left on the clock.
