With the FIFA Confederations Cup having begun this past weekend, here are the highest valued players at the tournament, and there is no African in the top 40.

CAF AFCON champions Cameroon are outsiders at the tournament, and lost their opening game against Chile 2-0. Manager Hugo Broos selected a fairly young side and their highest valued player is Vincent Aboubakar, at €10 million (R14 million), but he only sits in 41st position in the ranking.
That is only a 10th of Cristiano Ronaldo's estimated worth, and he leads the ranking with a value of €100 million (R1.4 billion), according to Transfermarkt.
He is followed by Chile superstar Alexis Sanchez, with €65 million (R931 million), and Portugal's Bernardo Silva, who recently signed for Manchester City and is valued at €40 million (R573 million).
Arturo Vidal (Chile) and Julian Draxler (Germany), both valued at €35 million (R501 million), complete the top five.
Shkodran Mustafi (Germany), with a €30 million (R430 million) valuation, is in in sixth spot, ahead of Portugal's William Carvalho with €28 million (R401 million) and his teammate Adrien Silva with €25 million (R358 million).
The latter is the first of five players who are valued at €25 million (R358 million), the others being Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Antonio Rudiger and Joshua Kimmich, all of Germany, and Portugal's Andre Gomes.
