Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, has insisted that Vicente del Bosque should not bench Iker Casillas after his horrible game against the Netherlands.
Mourinho had dropped Casillas in favour of both Adan and Diego Lopez during his time at Real Madrid, but claims that one bad game is not enough to bench the Spain keeper.
"I wouldn't put Iker on the bench,” Mourinho told Yahoo Sports as quoted by AS.
"The position of goalkeeper is a very specific one, and I'm not one for changing it just because of a bad game.
“I only change things because of form, which shows the keeper isn't in the right condition, doesn't have confidence, stability, giving off the feeling it is better to change.”
Casillas is Spain’s all-time record player with 155 caps during which he has kept unbelievable 92 clean sheets.
"Casillas has done great things with Spain, he's a keeper who needs the confidence of his coach, and one bad game, for me, isn't sufficient enough a reason to change a goalkeeper,” Mourinho added.
Casillas only conceded two goals during the 2010 World Cup and won the Golden Glove in South Africa.
